In the summer of 2017, I had the pleasure of working for amateur soccer team Lansing United during their National Premier Soccer League Campaign. I toured press boxes around Michigan writing match recaps and maintaining the team’s social media on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. I also helped keep track of team statistics. As a passionate soccer fan, it was great to be a part of the team.
Writing
I gained a lot of sportswriting experience while working with United. I wrote match recaps and previews that were published on the team website via WordPress. I’ve also included a match recap I wrote for the 2017 UEFA Champions League final below that I wrote as practice. I don’t like to brag, but I like to tell the story of how my employers thought that I plagiarized the practice recap because of how professional it sounded.
